In short: CopperPen stores all of your data on your own device. We do not collect it, transmit it, sell it, or have any access to it.
To let you run your tutoring business, the app stores on your device the information you choose to enter:
In the app's private storage area on your device. The app itself has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and makes no network requests of its own. It works fully offline, and we never receive your data.
Android backup. Android may include this app's data in the automatic backup of your phone, stored in your own Google Drive and used to restore your phone or move to a new one. That backup belongs to your Google account, not to us — we cannot see it. You can turn it off in your device settings under Google → Backup.
No one. Data leaves your device only when you explicitly export it (Settings → Export data, or copy a backup to your clipboard) and choose where to send that file.
CopperPen offers an optional paid subscription. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play — we never see your payment details. The app stores only whether your subscription is currently active.
The student and guardian information you enter is personal data about other people, some of whom may be children. Under UK GDPR you are the data controller for that information. You are responsible for handling it lawfully — including keeping your device secure, collecting only what you need, and honouring any request from a student or guardian to see or delete their information.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of its stored data from your device. Individual students can be archived within the app, which retains their history for your financial records; permanent per-record deletion is not yet available.
The app is intended for use by tutors, who are adults. It is not directed at children and children are not expected to use it.
